We are looking for a self-driven and proactive professional to work as the Business Development Manager for the National Biofilm Innovation Centre (NBIC), to take responsibility for the development and implementation of the NBIC’s processes for the protection and exploitation of intellectual property, consultancy and the delivery of Industry engagement and translational funding programmes.
The University of Southampton has one of the largest concentrations of interdisciplinary biofilm research in the UK. Now we are the lead institution for the new £26m National Biofilms Innovation Centre (NBIC) which is based in Southampton. The Centre sees 16 UK institutions working alongside over 60 companies, as well as policy and government regulatory bodies, to deliver ground breaking technologies and products to Prevent, Detect, Manage and Engineer Biofilms.
The successful individual will provide input into the development and delivery of NBIC’s Industry Engagement Strategy and related guidance and policy to enable the NBIC to respond to the changes in the UK Industrial Strategy. They will increase the sustainability of its income through its commercialisation, innovation activities and partnerships.
We are looking for someone with a PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in scientific research relevant to the biofilms sector. They will need to be able to effectively work with colleagues in other work areas to achieve outcomes. This post is suitable for individuals with excellent interpersonal skills, commercial experience or an ability to demonstrate excellent business acumen, and is available now. This role will require extensive travel within the UK. The office base for this role will be at the University of Southampton, however it is possible for the person to be based anywhere in the UK.
