Are you a graduate/postgraduate with an interest in biofilm control?

We are looking to appoint a well-organised, highly motivated individual to this PhD project, which aims to investigate the resilience of dry biofilms to disinfectants. Biofilms are becoming an area of increasing interest in healthcare and their role in healthcare associated infections is widely recognised. Biofilms present a significant challenge for disinfection as they are significantly less susceptible to disinfectants in comparison to planktonic bacteria and also permit increased microorganism survival. This is an exciting opportunity to become a Cardiff University postgraduate student, working in a joint program between the School of Pharmacy, health services and an industrial sponsor. You will be concerned with microbiology, disinfectant susceptibility testing and analysis and impact of disinfectants on dry biofilms in healthcare settings.

You will be a recent graduate with a 1st or 2(i) class degree or an MSc in Microbiology, Pharmaceutical, Biomedical or Biological sciences or similar degree.
