Dr Jean-Christophe Denis, PhD
Jean-Christophe works as an Outreach Officer for NIBC. After an academic research career (PhD and Postdoc in Chemical Physics at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, following Engineering studies in Supelec, near Paris (France)), Jean-Christophe moved to the position of Outreach Officer in 2017, following his passion. JC first got involved in outreach in 2006 when he co-organised science events for school students from deprived areas around Paris. This led him to become local Outreach Co-ordinator at the Scottish Doctoral Training Centre for Condensed Matter Physics, delivering activities in school and to the wider public, something he kept doing during his 3 years of Postdoctoral work. With NBIC, Jean-Christophe plans to develop bio-film related engagement activities, targeting in particular educators, families and people with little interest in science. In his spare time, Jean-Christophe is a folk dance enthusiast, co-founded and chaired a society dedicated to the promotion of European folk dancing in Edinburgh.
