NBIC Implement Researchfish Service

At NBIC, it’s crucial for us to capture the outcomes of the research we fund, not least to communicate the benefits of our research to the biofilms community and funders. We’re pleased to announce that we’re joining Researchfish, a service that will allow NBIC grant holders and funded researchers, to upload outcome data about research to multiple funders easily and quickly.

NBIC grant holders and funded researchers

If you are an NBIC grant holder or funded researcher you will receive an email asking you to follow a link and create your account. You then need to:

  • Register and start building your profile and outcomes and outputs, or accepting your invitation to link your existing account to the NBIC Grant(s) you are holding.
  • Keep your account updated throughout the year adding outputs to award or personal portfolio.
  • Submit this information to us once a year (quarterly or twice a year depending on the type of grants you hold); you will be reminded of the submission dates by email.

Once you are awarded a research grant from NBIC (or if you already have one) we will add you to our Researchfish account and you will automatically receive an email from Researchfish. You then need to use the link in the email to register on the Researchfish website and build your profile. You or one of your delegates can add, edit and delete entries and attribute these, to the awards you hold on your account.

We are implementing Researchfish for the first time and we will ask you to submit your data to us during our initial submission period which we aim to open from Monday 18 January to Friday 12 February 2021. Please do bear with us during this transition period as this may mean we will ask for you to submit this as well as your usual annual report. We will continue to ask for data to be submitted via Researchfish after your project has finished in order to gain a realistic view of what has been achieved and leveraged through the funding.  This could be 3 to 5 years after the funding ends depending on the type of grants you hold.

About Researchfish

Researchfish is an online Research Outcomes System that enables a researcher to report once across multiple funders. Research outputs only need to be input once and can then be attributed to different grants from different funders. This enables instant and accurate reporting, allowing funders to easily track and evaluate the outcomes of the research they fund, whilst saving researchers duplication of effort for different funders. Please be aware that we can only see information researchers have attributed to one of our grants.  We will use the information grant holders provide to evaluate and report on the impact of the research we fund and to inform our research strategy. You can find out more about Researchfish via their website.
