Senior Innovation Consultant wanted – National Biofilms Innovation Centre, by 1 Jan 2019
We are looking for a self-driven and proactive Professional to work as an Senior Innovation Consultant within the National Biofilm Innovation Centre (NBIC) to manage, coordinate and secure NBIC’s portfolio of impact, translation, proof of concept and other funding programmes to support knowledge exchange, commercialisation and impact acceleration.
NBIC is the central hub where academia, industry, government, and public policy come together to tackle the global challenges biofilms present, through a forward-thinking, collaborative and interdisciplinary approach. Funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), Innovate UK and Hartree Centre, our mission is to establish a network of research and innovation capacity in order to catalyse partnerships with industry in the study of biofilms to achieve breakthrough innovations and impact – from industry products and solutions to services and spinouts. The four core partners are the University of Southampton, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Liverpool and the University of Nottingham. They have now been joined by an additional 27 universities and over 60 industry partners in the aim to prevent, detect, manage and engineer solutions in biofilms. The successful individual will be responsible for the successful delivery of NBIC’s funding schemes. They will support knowledge exchange, policy development and enterprise initiatives to bring NBIC’s partners technologies, intellectual property and other research outputs closer to market.
We are looking for someone with proven experience of working with a broad range of emerging technologies and with multiple stakeholders. They will need to be able to effectively work with colleagues in other work areas to achieve outcomes. This post is suitable for individuals with excellent interpersonal skills and strong business acumen and is available now. This role will require extensive travel within the UK, but would have a predominately northern UK focus (Midlands/north of England/Scotland). The employing institution will be the University of Southampton, however it is possible for the person to be based anywhere in the UK
