NBIC Edinburgh Innovation Vouchers
We are pleased to announce the launch of our NBIC Innovation Voucher Scheme at the University of Edinburgh. The scheme has been developed to foster connections between NBIC academic research partners and regional companies by offering vouchers to subsidise the costs of collaborative projects which make use of the partner universities’ facilities and researchers.
The scheme aims to fund new partnerships and/or projects focused on developing new products or services which help the industry partner innovate and grow as a business. The value of each voucher is up to £10,000 (exclusive of VAT) and will be used to cover specific university costs.
Projects should align with one or more of NBIC’s Strategic Themes to Prevent, Detect, Manage and Engineer (PDME) biofilms:
- Prevent: Knowledge-based design of surfaces and materials.
- Detect. Innovative sensing, tracking and diagnostic technologies.
- Manage: Control and eliminate established biofilms from exploiting their life cycle dynamics.
- Engineer: Control and direct complex microbial community processes in process applications.
Projects involving small to medium enterprises (SMEs) must include at least an in-kind contribution from the company towards projects costs. Projects involving large companies must include a contribution of equal value or higher than the voucher value through a combination of in-kind and cash contributions.
We are aiming to provide funding to approximately 10 projects.
