NBIC is at the forefront of addressing biofilm challenges and harnessing their potential across various sectors. Through collaboration with academic and industrial partners, we develop innovative solutions to mitigate the adverse effects of biofilms while exploring their beneficial applications. Our efforts extend globally, ensuring that advancements in biofilm research contribute to economic, environmental, and societal benefits.
Proof of Concept Projects
NBIC’s Proof of Concept projects aim to bridge the gap between research and real-world applications. These projects focus on validating the feasibility of innovative biofilm technologies, providing essential data and insights for further development and commercialisation. By collaborating with industry partners, we ensure that our research translates into practical, market-ready solutions that address pressing biofilm-related challenges.
Combined, our four Proof of Concept calls received 207 applications from which 83 projects were awarded funding – representing a £4.4m investment from NBIC and a total value of £6.7m.
