Parliament for Researchers with the House of Lords Conference 2026

Taking place online on Wednesday 25 November 2026 from 10:30-16:00, Parliament for Researchers with the House of Lords is a one-day conference designed to help UK researchers understand how academic evidence and expertise support the work of Parliament.

The event will offer insights into the role of the House of Lords in examining legislation, carrying out inquiries, shaping public policy and holding the Government to account. Through sessions with Members of the House of Lords and parliamentary specialists, participants will explore how research informs parliamentary discussions and decisions, and how they can engage more effectively with the parliamentary process.

SETsquared Deal Readiness Toolkit Session

The programme will cover several areas where research informs parliamentary activity, including legislative scrutiny, Select Committees, the House of Lords Library and the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST). Speakers will discuss how evidence is used in practice and the ways researchers can contribute to informed debate and policymaking.

Researchers at all career stages are encouraged to attend and discover opportunities to share their knowledge and expertise with Parliament. The conference will provide a valuable introduction to parliamentary engagement for members of the UK academic community, whether they are new to working with Parliament or looking to strengthen existing connections.
